In February 1999, DYNARAD, North America’s largest manufacturer of electric resistance melting and holding furnaces and launder distribution systems for molten aluminum, as well as the world’s largest supplier of electric resistance melting, refining and alloying furnaces for magnesium, was acquired by STRIKOWESTOFEN and renamed STRIKODYNARAD. DYNARAD’s original owners and founders, FRANK & HEATHER SMITH, are no longer affiliated with STRIKODYNARAD.
STRIKOWESTOFEN was founded in 1998, the result of the merger of German-based companies Striko and Westofen. Striko is the world’s leader in bulk aluminum melters, large capacity holders and high efficiency tower (shaft) melters. Westofen leads the industry with its well-known Westomat precision aluminum pouring systems.
In June 2002, STRIKODYNARAD and STRIKOWESTOFEN were purchased from RHI GROUP, Vienna, Austria, by DEUTSCHE BETEILIGUNGS AG, a German-based private equity company. As a result of this acquisition, STRIKODYNARAD and STRIKOWESTOFEN are now part of the HIGH TEMPERATURE ENGINEERING GROUP, a division of DEUTSCHE BETEILIGUNGS AG.
In April 2003, FRANK & HEATHER SMITH founded RAYTEQ LLC to conduct basic research using computer simulation to develop high temperature processes including advanced heat treating furnaces. Today RAYTEQ is expanding into the development of specialized ceramics and cutting-edge electric heating technology for application to ultra-high performance electric resistance furnace systems.
